Jackson Kurtz is a rising senior and a Jayhawk Journalist at the University of Kansas, majoring in broadcast journalism and minoring in American studies. He currently anchors and co-producers a co-created TV program, “The Next,” on the University’s student-ran station, KUJH-TV. Within in the journalism school, he is a journalism leadership board member serving under the Diversity Inclusion Action Group. Jackson has interned for Cumulus Media and KCTV5 News (CBS Affiliate) in Kansas City. This summer he will be summer fellow for the International Radio and Television Society Fellowship (IRTS) 2017 Summer Program paired with CBS News in New York City.
Outside of journalism, Jackson formerly served as social chairman for three consecutive semesters for his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha ( Beta Gamma Chapter). He is also an avid fan of the Los Angeles Lakers and pop culture buff. Born and raised in the Kansas City Metro area, he is proud of his mid-western roots but is more than ready to start spreadin’ the news out east. “My main objective is to do what I love and help people in any capacity possible.”
